Hunt for gang who ‘hurled a dog to its death’ from block of flats

A hunt has launched for a gang of men after a dog died when it was thrown from a block of flats in Birmingham.

The innocent animal is thought to have been hurled to its death from a building on Greenvale Avenue in the Sheldon area of Birmingham.

The alleged incident, which killed the pet dog, happened at about 4.30pm on Monday.

RSPCA described the reports of the alleged animal cruelty as ‘terribly shocking’ and urged anyone with information to get in touch with the police.

The dog, named Luna, is thought to have been wearing a muzzle when it died, MailOnline reports. West Midlands Police said they received a call ‘about a dog being thrown from a building.’

A search is ongoing for a group of hooded men who were filmed leaving the area. Secretly filmed footage shows the group walking quickly and almost running as they fled the area.

News of Luna’s ‘unbelievably cruel and shocking’ killing angered people online. Natalie Chiswell commented: ‘This makes me feel sick to the core.

‘I hope these vile individuals are found and dealt with appropriately, I sadly suspect it will be a slap on the wrist.’

Emily Langford said: ‘I will never understand how people can be so cruel. Hope karma pays them all a nice visit sooner rather than later.’

Kate Parker wrote: ‘Omg this is so unbelievably cruel and sickening. How can they live with themselves harming a defenceless animal. I just despair with the human race.’

An RSPCA spokesperson told Metro: ‘We are aware of this terribly shocking alleged incident which West Midlands Police are investigating and we would urge anyone with information to contact them directly as they are leading the enquiries on this matter.’
